It wasn't to be for our Wonga Park 5XI, who were bettered by Yarra Glen 2XI at Yarra Glen #1.
First up, Yarra Glen 2XI made 9/182 from 36 overs. Noah Evans made a stylish 86 for our opponents, a well-deserved half-century. Michael Larder was the pick of the bowlers, taking two for 25 off seven overs. Matthew Gates claimed two for 31 as well.
Chasing 183, we reached 5/159 from 36 overs. Fifty for Matthew Gates, who finished with 80 not out off 98 balls. Garry Harwood weighed in with 43 off 51 balls.
Not our day, but there's plenty to work with. A tough stretch, and one the team will be determined to end.
On to the next one.
